and just recently when browsing I keep getting "Internet Explorer has encoutered a problem a needs to close, send error report " message. Doing my nut in. I ran all the scans and can't find any spyware, trojans etc. MSN and Yahoo msgr run ok, just when I browse pages.
Any ideas, cheers.
I use Internet Explorer 7?ie
As a lot of people on here have already said Browse with Mozilla Firefox instead it will never shut down like that anything made by Microsoft is unreliable.
I use Internet Explorer 7?microsoft internet explorer
Use Firefox
yeah get rid of it same happened to me its useless
fire fox works allot better
It's not a virus, just an unhandled exception in poorly written IE7 code.
Scrap it and get Firefox, Opera or Safari. Firefox is nice
http://en.www.mozilla.com/en/firefox/
i get it once or twice a day its a glitch
try this
To fix IE7
========
Boot windows in safe mode, if windows fails to do this select safe with networking or some other safe option.
In safe mode, using explorer delete the contents of Datastore folder.
Datastore folder is found in
c:\windows\softwaredistribution\ datastore.
This is safe to do as the file will rebuild itself. You may have to do it again 6 months time etc.
reboot computer
In IE7
Open the: –advance tab –
Click - restore defaults
- tick the instruction to empty the temporary files when the browser closes.
- disable phishing filter
Usually this is the trick, but if you still have problems, go to Google and search for “Reset IE7” as for a major shake up fix.
It could be a variety of reasons such as incompatible Add-ons, incompatible toolbars, lack of system resources (RAM), malware, Java problems, etc. Hard to say without knowing the error details.
First run your resident security products such as antivirus and antispyware applications. If everything comes up clean, try uninstalling your toolbars such as Google or Yahoo through Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. If the issues continue, go to Tools, Manage Add-ons and disable each one by itself to see if one of them is the culprit. If you are still having troubles, update your Java by following these steps.
Assuming that you are in the Administrator account, go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and uninstall everything that says J2SE, Java and Java Runtime. Reboot (some computers require a reboot to complete the uninstall process). Then go to the site below and download the most recent version of Java.
Afterwards, in IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab and scroll down to the Java section and tickmark the "Use 1.6.2 (version changes with each update) for applet". Click Apply, Click OK and reboot (a reboot is required for some computers for the settings to stick).

Finally if everything above has been ruled out, you probably have a system resources problem. You can see if your computer can handle more RAM by going to Crucial.com and running a scan.

It's important to note that everything takes RAM. Not only security products (such as active anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall) eat up memory but your operating system, active browser windows, running applications (such as Word, Gaming, Messenger, Photoshop, etc) and malware
hi
like people above me suggested you download firefox, and get rid off IE
Microsoft did something different and you need to download another file to got with it. Go to this site.
i get that alot on ie,so i use firefox most of the time
Ok - 1st off try scanning for spyware / viruses with a different program - grab a demo, MS Defender for example, even with the latest definitions does not pick up on some things that the free version of SUPERAntiSpyware did.
Once you are sure theres nothing nasty running check to see if all your hardware is properly configured. Right click "my computer", select properties, select the hardware tab, click "device Manager". Scroll down the list looking for any expanded trees with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in them. You'll notice one if its there - if there isnt then all is well.
Next thing to do is run all the available MS updates, upgrade IE if theres an upgrade available - you'll probably have to select the custom upgrades for that - and finally - make sure you are running the latest versions of all your plugins, Quicktime, Flash, etc etc....
Then download firefox :-)
Easy, get Firefox...
Less buggy, not as easy to exploit, awesome add-ons, it's faster, and doesn't crash as much.
Get Mozilla Firefox it's free and way, way faster more reliable with no errors whatever. Keep IE you can have both on the Google Toolbar. IE is better for dealing with Microsoft business but that's all.
